At the heart of Argentina’s surging musical scene during the 2020s, LIT Killah honed his craft through the nation’s prominent freestyle battles before achieving wider recognition via the 2018 release “Apaga el Celular.” Building momentum into the new decade, the artist accumulated significant rap-driven successes and reached the summit of the charts for the first time with the ballad “Entre Nosotros,” a Tiago PZK collaboration that surpassed half a billion streams.

Mauro Román Monzón, performing as LIT Killah, followed the path taken by many Argentine rappers who sharpened their technique inside the country’s celebrated competitions, yet few experienced a climb as swift as his. After drawing notice at smaller local events, he stepped onto the main stage for multiple dates of the landmark El Quinto Escalón in 2016, then claimed his initial victory later that year by overcoming Duki and Beelze at El Campito Free VIII. Two straight daily wins at the 2017 edition of El Quinto Escalón preceded his first independent releases, beginning with the high-velocity trap cut “De$troy.” The follow-up “Apaga el Celular” marked his true emergence, blending incisive rap delivery with pronounced autotune to gather forty million streams inside three months and exceed one hundred million before the year closed. Capitalizing on that breakthrough, he issued the gold-certified tracks “Búfon” and “Tan Bien” and made an early appearance on Bizarrap’s freestyle series.

Although 2019 proved comparatively subdued, it still yielded the gold-certified reggaeton single “Eclipse.” The following year brought far greater commercial impact: the platinum Bizarrap collaboration “Flexin’” reached number eleven, while the all-star “Cerca de Tí (Remix)” featuring Tiago PZK, Rusherking, Seven Kayne, Bhavi, and Tobi climbed to number twenty. After joining FMK on the platinum-certified “Yo Se Que Tu,” Killah secured his first number-one single with “Entre Nosotros,” a departure into successive, breakup-focused ballad performances that accumulated more than five hundred million streams within twelve months. On his debut album MAWZ, the rapper explored multiple pop subgenres alongside the rap and Latin foundations already central to his work, enlisting frequent associates Duki, FMK, and Tiago PZK. In 2022, Killah and Tiago PZK released a remix of “Entre Nosotros” that added Nicki Nicole and Maria Becerra and again entered the Argentinian charts at number one.
