Sleeping Bag

Bloomington, Indiana’s Sleeping Bag, a trio whose sound channels the easygoing vibe of summery pop and ’90s guitar lo-fi, was started by Dave Segedy. After deciding to broaden the scope of his solo project Whoa Bro Awesome, the singer and drummer brought in guitarist Lewis Rogers and bassist David Woodruff. The three then shaped the group’s drowsy spin on power pop, emphasizing melodic lines while keeping the music both energetic and restrained. Their self-titled debut appeared on Joyful Noise in 2011. Women of Your Life followed a year later. In 2014 the fuzzier Deep Sleep arrived with a revised lineup featuring Segedy alongside bassist Glenn Myers and guitarist Tyler Smith. Segedy issued the solo album Layup! on Old Flame Records in 2015. Two years later the band’s fourth album, Wet, was recorded by Segedy with assistance from Smith and released on the same label.
