Biography
Bristol-based quintet the Ramona Flowers formed from the remnants of multiple earlier endeavors and drew their name from the central female figure in the graphic novel and movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Guitarist Sam James, bassist Wayne Jones, and keyboardist/guitarist Dave Betts formed the nucleus, later joining forces with drummer Ed Gallimore and vocalist Steve Bird to shape atmospheric, synth-infused alternative rock that echoed the layered yet classic approach of acts such as U2. Frequent local performances soon drew notice from independent label Distiller Records, which released the band’s 2012 EP Dismantle, followed by the 2013 EP Lust and Lies and, in 2014, the full-length debut Dismantle and Rebuild.
