Biography
UK dance music duo Tin Tin Out formed in 1993 around the partnership of Darren Stokes and Lyndsey Edwards. Stokes, a respected DJ who served as A&R Director at Pulse 8 Records, had already secured releases for Gloworm’s ‘I Lift My Cup’ and Urban Cookie Collective’s ‘The Key: The Secret’ when he encountered Edwards during a studio session; the latter brought her reputation as a skilled keyboardist and technical arranger to the project. Under the Tin Tin Out name the pair quickly built a catalog of remixes for Jon Pleased Wimmin (‘Passion’), Lisa Moorish (‘That’s The Way It Is’) and Michelle Gayle (‘Freedom’). Their own debut UK chart entry arrived in August 1994 with ‘The Feeling’, which featured rapper Sweet Tee, followed in March 1995 by a cover of ‘Always Something There To Remind Me’ that spotlighted Espiritu vocalist Vanessa Quinnones; the Top 20 single later appeared on the British football program Endsleigh League Extra. The duo joined VC Recordings in 1995 and issued the album Always before year’s end. Their initial UK Top 10 success came in March 1998 when a rendition of the Sundays’ ‘Here’s Where The Story Ends’, voiced by Shelley Nelson, climbed to number 7; the next release, ‘Sometimes’, reached number 20 that September. In November 1999 they teamed with Spice Girl Emma Bunton for a cover of Edie Brickell’s ‘What I Am’ that peaked at UK number 2.
