Biography
Shantel Allen, the rapper and reality personality born in New Orleans and now based in Atlanta who performs as Tokyo Vanity, first drew widespread notice through her lively stage presence, buoyant beats, and clever lyricism on the 2015 breakout single “That’s My Best Friend.” The online personality made her album debut with Konnichiwa in 2017, then gained a national platform the following year when she joined the cast of Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta. While maintaining her vlog and recording output, she delivered the high-profile project B.A.P.S. alongside Tasha Catour and dropped additional tracks such as the 2020 cut “Big Mad Freestyle,” the 2021 release “F*ck N*gga Free,” and the 2023 collaboration “Dreamin” featuring Bobby Jean. To begin 2024 she unveiled an EP that reimagined her signature hit “That’s My Best Friend” in several alternate forms.
