No prior breakthroughs had emerged for South Florida's hardcore community, which remained confined to little-known groups performing in scattered small venues across the region. Where Fear And Weapons Meet, hailing from Fort Lauderdale, reached the national level through its self-titled EP of 1998, recorded and produced entirely in South Florida. The band's first full-length release, Weapon, appeared in 1999 on Revelation Records, the foundational hardcore label, with recording again kept local. While rooted in the established sound and rhythmic patterns of hardcore, the group conveys deep regard for the style itself and for the supporters who sustain it. That commitment registers in Alex Roundhouse's vocals and the robust melodies supplied by his bandmates. Guitarist John Wylie, long a central force in the local scene, fronts Where Fear And Weapons Meet as his second nationally recognized band while also directing the independent Eulogy Records. Comin' Correct arrived in 2000, followed early the next year by Unstoppable on Triple Crown.
