Originating from Cartagena, Zaider came into the world in 1998 bearing the full name Zaide Junior Peralta Martínez and has built his identity as a Colombian vocalist rooted in Latin urban music. Deeply drawn to champeta, the Afro-Caribbean folk tradition of Colombia, he first stepped onto stages at age 14. His entry into recording arrived with the 2015 single “Te Va A Doler,” which swiftly earned him attention both locally and nationwide. Once he reached his twenties the rhythm of his work changed sharply: between 2015 and 2020 he issued only a handful of singles annually, yet after 2021 the rate increased to at least a dozen singles or joint projects each year. More importantly, he drove the merger of champeta and urban rhythms, emerging as a central figure in the new hybrid style. His reach beyond Colombia expanded markedly in 2024 after Sony Music signed him and he began folding Afrobeat textures into his sound under the guidance of his associate and fellow performer Kevin Flórez. That year also brought major successes with the releases “Madrid” and “El Truquito,” most notably the “Vive La Vida - Remix” that features Blessd. Like many Latin urban acts of his generation, Zaider spent his first decade issuing more than sixty singles and collaborations while releasing neither an album nor an EP.
