Alissa Griffith, working as both vocalist and songwriter, resided primarily in California through most of her life until relocating to Nashville, a shift that shaped her songs to merge the refined sheen of West Coast pop with the grounded narrative style of modern country. Early releases carried a pronounced country emphasis, yet later efforts including “Glasses” and “What I’ve Been Missin’” revealed a clearer embrace of pop sensibilities.

She entered the world in Yorba Linda, California, the birthplace of President Richard Nixon. During childhood her family settled in nearby Anaheim, close to Disneyland, where she quickly grew captivated by music’s ability to mirror and mold emotional experience. Songwriting started at age 11, and by 17 she was appearing regularly in local venues while securing a publishing agreement for her catalog. Performances throughout Southern California had already made her a seasoned performer by the time she reached legal drinking age, prompting her country-music affinity to steer her toward Nashville.

At 21 she left California for Music City and issued the Christian-themed “The Gospel According to Ellen” in November 2017. Breakthrough arrived with the September 2018 release of “Glasses,” whose polished production earned over 1.4 million streams on a leading platform. “This Is Love” followed a month later as her third single. “Unfold” appeared next, offering a dance-oriented take on pop-country, and the subsequent June brought the introspective, romantic “What I’ve Been Missin’.”
