Biography
Having first built a career as a professional writer, French rock singer and songwriter Alister transitioned into music with his solo recording debut in 2008. Born Christophe Ernault on September 29, 1975, he worked as a screenwriter for French television programs such as La Minute Blonde in the early to mid-2000s. His entry into the French pop/rock arena came through his partnership with Adrienne Pauly, for whom he co-wrote the first five tracks on her 2006 self-titled solo album debut. That release achieved modest commercial traction by charting in France for nearly a year, which in turn secured Ernault a major-label contract with Barclay. Under the Alister name, he released his own full-length solo album Aucun Mal Ne Vous Sera Fait in 2008. Baxter Dury and Craig Silvey produced the effort, which failed to become a major commercial force or generate significant hits yet still earned favorable critical notice overall.
