San Diego-based outfit Almost Monday crafts gleaming, energetic pop marked by polished sonics and memorable melodies. Their entry into the wider music landscape came via the disco-tinged single “Broken People” in 2020, which featured on the group’s inaugural EP, Don’t Say You’re Ordinary. A follow-up EP, Til the End of Time, surfaced the next year, while a growing slate of festival slots, support tours, and fresh material paved the way for their first full-length album in 2024.

High-school acquaintances Cole Clisby on guitar, frontman Dawson Daugherty, and bassist-keyboardist Luke Fabry launched the trio. Early on they harbored modest local ambitions, performing in modest spots such as a nearby surf shop and an abandoned airplane hangar. A Hollywood Records scout caught one of those sets, leading to the band’s signing in early 2019. Backed by the label, Almost Monday issued a series of optimistic alt-pop singles throughout 2020. After “Come On Come On” and “Parking Lot View” arrived “Broken People,” an irresistibly hook-driven cut accompanied by a stylized video that remains their most prominent release; a Sofi Tukker remix expanded its reach further. All three tracks appeared on the debut EP Don’t Say You’re Ordinary, helmed by producers Simon Oscroft and Mark Needham. In 2021 the band resumed issuing singles beginning with “Live Forever,” one of three cuts that joined the title track on Til the End of Time. They wrapped the year with “Cool Enough,” later reworked by electronic duo the Knocks. A national tour alongside Joywave followed in 2022, after which Almost Monday’s concert profile expanded through appearances at Lollapalooza and Firefly. Additional releases included the 2022 single “Cough Drops” and 2023’s “Sweet Feelings,” while 2024 brought “Is It Too Late?” ahead of the planned debut album.
