Biography
Anti-Mortem first sharpened their abilities on a makeshift platform inside a barn located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where the group set about reviving groove metal’s fading tradition. The outfit came together in 2008 with Larado Romo handling vocals, Nevada Romo and Zain Smith on guitar, Corey Henderson on bass, and Levi Dickerson completing the lineup; they developed their Southern metal-rooted approach inside the same structure owned by Smith’s relatives, using repeated live appearances there to tighten their emphasis on heavy grooves. Once that Pantera-esque approach reached full strength, the band secured a contract with Nuclear Blast in 2013 and delivered their first album, New Southern, in mid-2014.
