Biography
Roo Pescod’s return to Cornwall marked the actual formation of Bangers, reuniting the guitarist and vocalist with bassist Andrew Horne and drummer Hamish Adams after earlier local-band activity and a short-lived beach-punk detour under the name Hit the Beach. Abandoning that theme, the trio began composing material shaped by the Lawrence Arms, Jawbreaker, and Fifth Hour Hero. Their initial outing was a split single with touring partners Ssssnakes, pressed in an edition of only fifty CD-R copies. That 2009 recording led directly to a split LP with Break the Habit later the same year. After extensive European and U.K. dates, including support slots for Bridge & Tunnel and Lemuria, the band joined Specialist Subject Records, which issued the 2010 compilation Dude Trips drawn from those early recordings. Bangers delivered their first proper full-length, Small Pleasures, in 2011. Continued road work followed before the group reconvened in the studio during 2013 to cut its next album, Crazy Fucking Dreams, issued late that year on Beach Community, an offshoot of Big Scary Monsters. Midway through 2014 the three-piece spent forty-eight hours writing and tracking Mysterious Ways; the resulting limited edition went on sale for exactly forty-eight hours the following week. In 2015 Bangers returned with their third album, Bird, again on Specialist Subject, while a small pressing of Mysterious Ways was finally made available. By mid-2016 the trio announced their disbandment, closing a seven-year run with the two-song 7-inch Last Songs.
