Dirtyphonics, a French electronic group, came together in Paris during 2004. Charly Barranger, Thomas Desbouvrie, and Julien "Pho" Lignon made up the initial members. These three individuals, who function as DJs, producers, and multi-instrumentalists, spent a couple of years refining their material prior to any stage appearances. Their approach drew from the large-scale sonic impact of dance ensembles such as Daft Punk, alongside influences leaning toward rock. Julien "PitchIn" Corrales became part of the ensemble in 2008, at which point they inked a deal with AudioPorn Records. This led to multiple single releases as they honed a fusion incorporating dubstep, trap, and drum'n'bass. Their rising profile brought opportunities to create remixes for figures like Skrillex and Marilyn Manson. Dim Mak Records put out their first album, Irreverence, in 2013. Following extensive live performances, Desbouvrie departed in early 2014 to pursue visual arts. Write Your Future, an EP, appeared in 2015. Continued road work, a move to Los Angeles, along with additional remixes and singles, preceded their 2017 collaboration on "Watch Out" with Bassnectar and the Ragga Twins.
