Montreal-based production duo Banx & Ranx fuse reggae and broader Caribbean elements into an emphatically dancefloor-oriented aesthetic. Their breakthrough arrived via the 2018 U.K. Top Five single “Answerphone,” after which they sustained club momentum through joint releases with Sean Paul, Rêve, Ella Eyre, and additional collaborators.

The pair came together in 2014, uniting the skills of studio specialists KNY Factory and Soke. Their earliest material consisted of electronic reinterpretations of landmark reggae recordings by Bob Marley, Sizzla, and Capelton. Only with the 2017 single “LIT” did Banx & Ranx debut original material, extending the trap-accented rhythms they had previously layered onto reggae productions by other artists. Steady behind-the-scenes activity followed, encompassing remixes and production credits for Gorillaz, Sean Paul, David Guetta, and further acts, all preceding the 2018 arrival of “Answerphone.” That track reached number five in the U.K. and paved the way for subsequent releases: the 2018 cut “Ego” featuring Sean Paul, the 2019 song “Mama” with Ella Eyre and Kiana Ledé, and the 2022 track “Headphones” alongside Rêve and Tommy Genesis.
