Biography
Bobi Andonov, previously known as Bobby Andonov or BOBI, works as an Australian pop singer, songwriter, and producer. He entered the world in Melbourne during 1994 with parents of Macedonian heritage and first tried his hand at singing at the age of six, stepping onto stages in youth musicals three years later. After thousands of hopefuls auditioned, he earned the role of Young Simba for The Lion King runs staged in both Melbourne and Shanghai. While studying voice, dance, piano, and guitar, he also mastered performances in Macedonian and Italian.
During his mid-teens Andonov stood for FYR Macedonia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 and later appeared on the 2010 season of Australia’s Got Talent. Reaching the finals, he delivered Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” Christina Aguilera’s “Fighter,” and Kanye West’s “Heartless.”
At eighteen, in 2013, he introduced his own composition “War Is Love,” a sweeping ballad that revealed the rock-leaning power in his vocals. He contributed two tracks to the film The Dream Children, which screened at festivals in 2015, the same year his voice appeared on DJ Joel Fletcher’s “State of Emergency.” Andonov also shared writing duties on the 2015 release “Stone” for X Factor Australia winner Cyrus Villanueva. Late that year he revealed his signing with Hollywood Records. Following online covers of Alessia Cara and Drake, he resurfaced in 2017 with the cinematic pop track “Apartment.”
