Biography
James Hersey, a Vienna-based singer and songwriter from Austria, crafts hook-driven indie pop laced with electro-pop drive. During his early years he refined his abilities first on cello and drums before shifting focus to guitar. While participating in his school choir and several punk groups, he developed an affinity for an array of styles ranging from IDM to hip-hop. Influenced by the work of Phoenix, Foster the People, Coldplay, and John Mayer, he issued his self-titled debut EP featuring the track "Promises" in 2010. The follow-up EP Twelve appeared in 2012, after which he signed with Glassnote Records. The label's first release from him, the single "Miss You," surfaced in 2016 and later featured on the EP Pages that arrived the next year. Hersey put out the single "Real for You" in 2018, and the track formed part of his debut full-length album Innerverse, released in 2019.
