Originally from New London, Minnesota, where he grew up alongside his triplet siblings, Brady Toops first chased a baseball career after selection in the 2004 Major League Baseball draft and three seasons spent in the minors. He later pivoted to music, issuing a series of independent singles in the early 2010s that included “Can’t Stop Lovin’,” “A Little Love,” and “Lord Have Mercy.” The Nashville-based singer/songwriter and former baseball player, whose earnest folk-inflected pop features personal lyrics and a romantic flair, self-released his gospel-driven debut album in 2013, where emotional indie folk merged with prominent CCM and gospel undercurrents.

After basing himself in Nashville and continuing to write, Toops paused in 2015 to join Season 11 of ABC’s The Bachelorette, then delivered his 2017 follow-up Tried and True, a soulful folk-pop album that retained faint gospel traces while centering introspective lyrics and love songs. Emerging from a subsequent hiatus, he returned to the studio in 2023 with producer Michael McEach to record the 2024 single “Ghost,” a lush indie pop track that signaled his shift toward a more pop-forward style and served as the lead for his third album, Her.
