Christian singer and songwriter Tim Timmons has long anchored his life in faith, yet that foundation faced severe trials through misfortune and life-threatening illness prior to issuing his debut praise-and-worship collection. Emerging from an intense cancer diagnosis, he built a body of work as an inspirational artist via the 2013 release Cast My Cares and the 2015 album Awake Our Souls before expanding into family-oriented recordings with 2017’s Who I Am.

Born February 9, 1976, in Irvine, California, Timmons discovered music early, beginning with drums at age seven, adding guitar and songwriting at eleven, and later mastering piano on his own. His songwriting ability soon turned professional in his early twenties, yielding collaborations with Mike Doheney of Tenth Avenue North, Michael Farren of Pocket Full of Rocks, Dove Award-nominated singer and songwriter Jason Walker, and LaRue frontman Phillip LaRue; during this period he also served as worship leader at Mariners Church in Irvine. In 2001, however, an inoperable cancer diagnosis prompted a complete reassessment of priorities. Given an initial prognosis of five years, Timmons focused on his wife, expanding family, and ongoing worship duties. Once he surpassed that timeframe by a considerable margin, he embraced a fresh mission to employ his music in guiding listeners toward a deeper grasp of what it means to follow Jesus. He expressed this conviction by stating, “Following Jesus versus being a believer in Him is revolutionary,” and intensified his creative focus, securing a 2013 contract with Reunion Records. His first worship project, Cast My Cares, produced by Paul Mabury, appeared that summer and peaked at number 13 on Billboard’s Christian chart. Awake Our Souls followed in 2015, supported by joint performances alongside MercyMe and Phil Wickham. Timmons next issued the independently released children’s album Who I Am in 2017, co-produced with Christian Hale, and delivered his initial holiday recording, the five-song Mighty Christmas EP, the same year. Written at a church retreat, the subsequent anthemic single “I Belong” included a guest vocal from CCM legend Amy Grant.
