Biography
Dove Award-nominated Christian adult-pop outfit Cochren & Co. channels the piano-driven, blues-tinged material written by Michael Cochren. Their first release on a major label arrived in 2018 with the single “Church (Take Me Back),” followed by the full-length debut Don’t Lose Hope in 2021 and the sophomore album Running Home two years later.
Hailing from Montgomery, Indiana, Cochren works as a singer, songwriter, and worship leader whose style draws from Billy Joel, Ray Charles, and Needtobreathe. He started performing his own songs around the Midwest while still in his teens in 2011; by 2014 he had assembled a backing band and taken the name Cochren & Co., soon landing opening slots with the Newsboys and Jeremy Camp.
After inking a deal with TobyMac’s Gotee Records, the group issued its label debut in November 2018, pairing “Church (Take Me Back)” with the B-side “Grave.” Both tracks were cut in Nashville under producer and co-writer Bryan Fowler, whose résumé includes work with Chris Tomlin and Rend Collective. Before the month ended, they followed up with “Please Come Home for Christmas.” In 2019 Cochren & Co. appeared on the Thunderbird Remix of TobyMac’s “Edge of My Seat,” originally found on the 2018 album The Elements. The 2021 Gotee release Don’t Lose Hope spawned the Billboard-charting singles “Church (Take Me Back),” “One Day,” and “Who Can.” The 2022 standalone track “Thank God for Sunday Morning” later surfaced on Running Home.
