Cardiknox

In 2013 the electronic duo Cardiknox assembled to create catchy, emotionally charged pop suited to the dance floor. The lineup unites vocalist Lonnie Angle with multi-instrumentalist Thomas Dutton. Although both members grew up in Seattle, they first met after moving together to New York in 2010 to work on the off-Broadway musical Razia's Shadow: A Musical, itself drawn from an album by Dutton’s then-current band Forgive Durden. Even though the production earned strong reviews, Angle and Dutton chose to launch an independent project. A pair of tracks posted online in 2014, “Black Wayfarers” and “Hold Me Down,” attracted early praise and prompted the group—its name adapted from Angle’s mother’s maiden name Cardinaux—to relocate to Los Angeles. There they recorded their debut album with Grammy-winning producer John Shanks, resulting in the 2016 release Portrait on Warner Bros.
