Biography
In 2013, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Mufson partnered with vocalist and songwriter Jill Lamoureux to establish the electropop duo Scavenger Hunt in Los Angeles. Their influences encompass Annie Lennox and Lionel Richie, resulting in a sound steeped in the synth pop and adult contemporary successes of the 1980s.
Although neither hails from California, Mufson had relocated from Philadelphia to chase opportunities in film scoring, while Lamoureux arrived from Wichita, Kansas, seeking the local music environment. Lamoureux first connected with Mufson upon attending one of his Hollywood performances, after which their overlapping interests led them to collaborate in the studio right away.
The Scavenger Hunt EP appeared in 2014, and tracks including "Lost" and "Dreamers" secured licenses for numerous screen uses and advertising campaigns, placing the release on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. The stand-alone single "Wildfire" from 2015 surfaced on series such as Nashville and Quantico, and "Dreamers" received placement in the hit comedy Bad Moms during mid-2016. That November the group issued its second EP, Shapes and Outlines, having toured in the interim as support for Capital Cities, Dragonette, and Panama Wedding.
Mid-2017 brought the Memories EP, which was succeeded later in the year by the shimmering non-EP single "Ghosts."
