Brooklyn, New York-based rapper Casanova came to music later than most after serving time behind bars for multiple offenses. Once freed, he briefly worked construction before recognizing that hip-hop offered the direction he truly sought. Leaving his offenses in the past while drawing creative fuel from them, he laid down his debut track “Don’t Run,” which surfaced in June 2016 and rapidly gained traction across the internet. That momentum led him to sign with Memphis Bleek’s Warehouse Music imprint. Throughout 2017 he focused on fresh recordings in the studio, highlighted by a high-profile remix of “Don’t Run” that added Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, and additional guests. Following the release of his first mixtape, Be Safe Tho, Casanova hit the road on the Party Tour with Chris Brown, 50 Cent, French Montana, and a roster of other acts. His first studio album, Commissary, arrived during summer 2018 and featured the single “Down Bitch” with A Boogie wit Da Hoodie. In 2019 he teamed with 30 Roc for the joint EP Free at Last and also dropped the standalone cuts “Forged in Steel” plus “So Brooklyn,” the latter again showcasing Fabolous.
