Emerging in the public eye as an 18-year-old from Florida, the rapper and R&B singer YK Osiris attracted swift notice from major industry figures after posting only a handful of tracks online. The momentum from his 2018 single “Valentine” led directly to a Def Jam contract, after which a succession of well-received releases paved the way for his first full-length project, The Golden Child, issued in 2019. That album entered the Billboard Top 100 and earned gold status, while subsequent collaborations with DaBaby and additional leading figures in rap and R&B allowed Osiris to keep testing the boundaries of his sound.

Osiris Williams entered the world in Jacksonville, Florida, during 1998. An early affinity for vintage soul, classic R&B, and contemporary strains of pop and rap prompted him to begin composing his own material while still quite young. Posting initially under the name Osiris, he placed the track “Fake Love” online in 2017, then adopted the YK Osiris alias for all later work. The January 2018 drop of “I’m Next (Freestyle)” produced an immediate online surge and accumulated millions of streams. Interest from record executives intensified with the March arrival of “Valentine,” which surpassed nine million streams in mere weeks. A remix featuring Li’l Uzi Vert followed, prompting multiple label offers that culminated in his Def Jam signing. July 2018 brought the single “Timing,” succeeded by “Run It Up” and the Big40 collaboration “Ride 4 Me.” Early the next year “Worth It” became his first Billboard Hot 100 entry; both that song and “Shakira” later appeared on The Golden Child, released in October 2019. The project included guest turns from Kehlani, Tory Lanez, Ty Dolla $ign, and others, ultimately reaching number 90 on the Billboard album chart. Osiris then concentrated on standalone releases such as the 2019 DaBaby-assisted “Freaky Dancer” and 2020’s “Leave Me in Read,” continuing the pattern with the 2021 holiday ballad “This Christmas” and “Be My Girl” in 2022.
