A native of the Highbridge section in the Bronx, New York City, rapper Don Q stepped forward during 2016 with stark, unembellished rhymes drawn from his personal history on the opening mixtape Don Season. Early recognition came through joint appearances alongside fellow Bronx native A Boogie wit da Hoodie, which led him into the Highbridge the Label collective before he secured a deal with Atlantic. His approach avoids melodic hooks and showy vocal techniques, centering instead on concentrated, purposeful wordplay. Beyond repeated work with A Boogie, he has joined 50 Cent on the 2018 track “Yeah Yeah” and Lil Uzi Vert on the 2020 release “Flood My Wrist.”

Raised on Jay-Z albums together with mixtapes from Lloyd Banks and Cassidy, Don Q began crafting rhymes and participating in battles while still a teenager. At age 17 he put out an understated mixtape, after which his attention drifted from music until 2014, when he resolved to pursue a professional career. Guest spots on recordings by Meek Mill and Dave East preceded the arrival of Don Season and the joint project Highbridge the Label: The Takeover, Vol. 1 with A Boogie in 2016.

Corner Stories appeared the next year, a mixtape that included Styles P, Jadakiss, and Fabolous along with beats from Scott Storch and Murda Beatz. Shortly afterward Atlantic signed him and released the expanded edition Corner Stories Reloaded. In 2018 he delivered the Don Talk EP, which featured Desiigner, Pusha T, and Tee Grizzley, then followed it with Don Season 2, the continuation of his debut project. That sequel marked his first appearance on the charts, peaking at number 93 on the Billboard 200. The year closed with the EP Underrated. Following a brief pause, Don Q resurfaced in 2020 on “Flood My Wrist” alongside A Boogie and Lil Uzi Vert, while additional singles such as “Legends” with Benny the Butcher and “Vroom Vroom” with A Boogie also surfaced that year.
