Colours

Colours, an atmospheric electronic rock duo, formed in Sarasota, Florida. Kyle Tamo, the vocalist who grew up in Colchester, Connecticut, first crossed paths with drummer Morgan Alley during their time in the Florida post-hardcore outfit Burden of a Day, where the earliest Colours material emerged as a shared creative side project. Following Burden of a Day’s 2010 dissolution, Tamo and Alley recruited a handful of their former bandmates to develop the new project. By 2015, as the first singles from their planned debut LP appeared, the two musicians had decided to continue strictly as a duo. The opening tracks “Monster” and “Lawless” signaled a clear shift away from the heavier sound of their prior group. Producer Shaun Lopez of Deftones and Crosses characterized the music as “dark pop,” noting its blend of passionate vocals, lush synths, urgent production, and sweeping beats. The resulting full-length, Ivory, arrived in early 2016.
