Biography
Emerging from San Antonio, Texas, the Christian metalcore outfit Darkness Divided crafts aggressive, rhythm-driven tech-metal carrying a clear thematic focus. The group formed in 2010 initially as a worship ensemble styled after Third Day and Jeremy Camp before pivoting toward heavier material soon afterward under the sway of As I Lay Dying and the Devil Wears Prada. Centered on vocalist Gerard Mora, bassist Joseph Mora, guitarist Sebastian Elizondo, and drummer Hayden Allen, they issued their first recording, the independently released EP Chronicles, in 2012. Victory Records took notice, inking a deal the next year and putting out the band’s debut full-length Written in Blood in 2014. Subsequent road work with Colossus, For Today, and August Burns Red paved the way for their self-titled second studio album, which Victory issued in 2016.
