Biography
In 2005 D.H.T. secured its place among European dance acts gaining traction in America when Robbins Entertainment issued the single “Listen to Your Heart.” The New York imprint had already guided tracks by DJ Sammy (“Heaven”) and Lasgo (“Something”) to domestic success. Formed in Belgium, the project paired singer Edmee Daenen with DJ Da Rick and a rotating cast of producers, fusing brisk Hi-NRG and Euro-dance rhythms with emotive female vocals and progressive-house depth. The glossy remake of Roxette’s hit proved especially resonant, echoing the earlier impact of Sammy’s Bryan Adams cover. Hardbounze first released the track in Europe in 2003; Robbins brought it to the States in November 2004, where it reached the Top 40 in several markets by the following May. Prior to that breakthrough, the act had recorded an upbeat Euro-dance version of the 1978 Sniff ’n’ the Tears favorite “Driver’s Seat” under the name Dared.
