Biography
Mexican singer and actor Erick Rubín first entered the popular music scene through his involvement with the teen pop group Timbiriche, before launching a solo path via the 1993 album La Casa del Amor. Onstage and onscreen, he took on parts in the Latin soap opera Muñecos de Papel, the stage production Rent, and the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. Following the Latin rock-focused Sueño de Fantasía in 1995 and Frecuencia Continental in 1997, he resurfaced in 2002 under the name Erik with Quadrasónico, a blend of 1970s club/dance music, pop/rock, and electronica that Jorge Amaro and Aureo Baqueiro helped produce. Rubin kept issuing full-length recordings throughout the 2000s, reaching a sixth studio effort with 2009’s Aquí y Ahora. He also reunited with Timbiriche in 2007 to mark the group’s 25th anniversary.
