Evangeline crafts original alternative country rock songs that blend echoes of classic folk-rock with vibrant pop and rock influences. Their material explores deeply felt subjects through expressive songwriting and memorable tunes. After leaving the Cheap Ones, Chris Cline established the group in Seattle during 1998 and soon welcomed vocalist Jennifer Potter into the lineup. Pedal steel player and guitarist Kevin Suggs, bassist Scott Summers, and drummer Kevin Warner completed the roster at later stages. The ensemble began performing at venues throughout numerous regions before committing to studio work on a debut album in 2000. Suggs, previously credited on projects by the Walkabouts, Ramona, and Heather Duby, took on production duties. The resulting record, Felt Like Home, appeared in stores the following year and drew unexpected commercial interest along with widespread critical approval.
