Biography
In 1994 vocalist Annika assembled Fivel in Stockholm, Sweden, recruiting Tristan on bass, Linda on drums, and Mirke on guitar in order to introduce sophisticated indie pop sounds to the city. After a year of local shows and the circulation of two demos, several major labels expressed interest, yet the band ultimately signed with the Swedish indie imprint North of No South. The self-titled debut album Fivel appeared in 1996 and received distribution only in Sweden, Australia, Japan, Denmark, and Norway; the EP 57 followed one year later. An extended Swedish tour wrapped at the close of 1997, after which a personnel shift left Annika as the sole remaining original member, though she chose to carry forward the band’s work regardless.
