Grupo H-100 originated in Culiacan, Sinaloa as a norteño and corrido quintet assembled expressly to compete in a 2014 talent contest, where the outfit captured first place. Fronted by vocalist Jasiel Felix, the lineup also includes his brother Luis Felix on guitar and backing vocals, accordionist Juan Carlos B., bassist Jesus Mindel Hindez, and drummer Adriel Soto.

Once victorious, the musicians began appearing at festivals and shooting videos. Their opening track, “Nada Que Hacer (Chuy Verduras),” drew 18 million views and received regional radio airplay. In 2016 the group released the soccer-star tribute “Cristian Ronaldo” along with “Lo Logramos,” a collaboration with Banda Renovacion.

After signing with Allianz Records, the Disa subsidiary, they issued the single “Ya Me Vi Contigo” in November 2016 and followed it with an album of the same name the next February. Re-serviced to radio, the title track earned extensive spins, logged 15 weeks on the Mexican Regional charts, and peaked at number 25, while both the single and the album reached the streaming Top 20. After a year-and-a-half effort, Grupo H-100 finally secured U.S. travel visas and launched a tour of the American Southwest.
