Biography
Hand of Mercy formed as a hardcore outfit in Sydney, Australia, during 2007. Scott Bird handled vocals while Adam McLain and Josh Campiao played guitar, Cullum Jensen-MacKinnon sat behind the drums, and Michael Dawson anchored the low end. The group honed a mosh-friendly, riff-driven approach across years of nonstop road work that included support slots alongside the Ghost Inside, A Day to Remember, and Amity Affliction. Their earliest output consisted of the self-released EPs Trash the Party in 2007 and Scum of the Earth in 2008, followed by the full-length The Fallout in 2010. For their first international release the band joined UNFD, issuing Last Lights in 2012 after tracking the record in Boston with producer Shane Frisby. They headed back to Boston the next year to lay down Resolve, yet vocalist Scott Bird departed shortly afterward, prompting a complete re-recording in 2014. Brisbane native Nick Bellringer stepped in as the new frontman, allowing the album to be completed and issued by UNFD that summer.
