Biography
South Korea’s IVE, a six-member girl group specializing in catchy, rhythm-driven pop, burst onto the scene with immediate chart dominance. Their 2021 single “Eleven” and its 2022 follow-up “Love Dive” both reached the summit of the Gaon rankings, while a third track, “After Like,” surfaced later that same year. The band’s first studio album, I’ve IVE, arrived in 2023, preceded by the Japanese EP Wave and succeeded by the Korean mini-albums I’ve Mine and 2024’s IVE Switch.
Starship Entertainment assembled the Seoul-based lineup in 2021, drawing together Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. Wonyoung and Yujin had previously participated in the Produce 48 competition and performed with Iz*One until the project disbanded in 2021. The group’s name, IVE, functions as a stylized rendering of the contraction “I’ve.” Their official introduction came in December 2021 via the single “Eleven,” which led the Gaon Album chart, entered the upper tier of Billboard’s World Digital Songs Sales tally, and registered on Japan’s Hot 100. April 2022 brought “Love Dive,” another domestic number-one, followed in August by “After Like.” Early the next year, “Kitsch” and “I Am” preceded the full-length I’ve IVE. Wave, recorded in Japanese for the Japanese audience, landed in May and topped the local charts; the Korean EP I’ve Mine followed in October and achieved success across multiple territories, while IVE Switch, the band’s second Korean mini-album, emerged in 2024.
