Biography
Swedish duo Jarami crafts upbeat, groove-laden electronic music that fuses house rhythms with soul, jazz, and pop influences. Although their own material, such as the 2017 track "Hear This," earned substantial radio rotation and streaming numbers, the pair found even broader impact through production work on chart successes by Frank Ocean, Camila Cabello, and Silk City alongside Dua Lipa.
Songwriters and producers Jacob Olofsson and Rami Dawod first connected in Stockholm in 2011, united by a shared affinity for R&B, and launched Jarami two years later in 2015. Early notice arrived via popular reworkings of songs by Rihanna and Aaliyah. Those efforts paved the way for their co-production of Marc E. Bassy's 2016 hit "You & Me" featuring G-Eazy, together with a widely streamed remix of Wafia's "Heartburn."
Recognition expanded markedly in 2017 after Jarami handled production duties on three non-album Frank Ocean releases—"Lens," "Biking," and the platinum-certified "Chanel"—plus Camila Cabello's international hit "Never Be the Same," which reached the Billboard Hot 100 top ten. That May they issued the instrumental house EP Sketches and appeared at Sweden's Way Out West festival plus Ibiza's DC10 club. In 2018 they co-produced Silk City and Dua Lipa's "Electricity," which climbed to number four on the U.K. singles chart and number one on Billboard's Dance Club Songs. Their second EP, the vocal-focused Sketches II, followed later that year and contained "Hear This," a children's-vocal single that ranked among the most-played tracks on Australian station Triple J.
After "Electricity" captured the Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2019, Jarami remixed Khalid's "Talk" and released the singles "Post Mates" featuring Cautious Clay and "Hold On."
