Biography
San Diego native Jason French crafts hook-driven songs steeped in neo-soul and reggae, delivering them through a rich, unhurried voice. Growing up under the rules of a devout Christian household, he first encountered music by performing in the congregation led by his preacher father. He later slipped recordings from secular acts such as N*Sync, Sublime, and blink-182 into his room for private listening. With no television in the house, he picked up piano and guitar on his own near age ten, and during adolescence he began composing original material. After inking a contract with Motown in his early twenties, he completed a full album and was already touring when the label cut him loose. Undeterred, he kept writing while moving between couches and taking temporary work to cover expenses. He ultimately reached an agreement with Interscope, issuing the track “You Just Want My Money,” which gained wide traction through streaming platforms.
