Biography
Florida native Ryan Griffin channels raw emotion through his work as a singer and songwriter whose style fuses elements of today’s country, adult contemporary pop, and R&B. His breakthrough arrived after he co-wrote Kelsea Ballerini’s chart-topping 2015 single “Dibs,” prompting him to step forward as a recording artist with a series of singles and two EPs, Sake of the Summer in 2017 and Name on It in 2020.
Drawn to music early, Griffin absorbed the Vince Gill and George Strait albums favored by his parents. During his teenage years he expanded his listening to include everyone from Keith Urban through Brian McKnight while simultaneously crafting and performing original material. Following graduation he enrolled at Nashville’s Belmont University, where he continued refining his performance skills. In his final year an internship at Broken Bow Records unexpectedly led to a role as Jason Aldean’s tour manager. Armed with practical insight into the country-music business, Griffin completed his Belmont degree and began pursuing his own path in earnest.
A publishing agreement with Dan Hodges Music followed, and in 2015 he again teamed with Kelsea Ballerini on the number-one hit “Dibs.” That success paved the way for his first EP, Sake of the Summer, whose lead track was “Back Seats & Burnt CDs.” Subsequent releases arrived mainly as standalone singles such as “Play It by Heart” and “Best Cold Beer,” culminating in the 2020 EP Name on It. Griffin maintained his balance of lighthearted country narratives and pop sensibility on the 2021 tracks “Salt, Lime & Tequila” and “Mama’s Boy.”
