Prior to attaining American success through "The Party," his house reinterpretation of Montell Jordan's 1995 hit "This Is How We Do It" that retained Jordan's original vocal tracks, Dutch DJ and producer Joe Stone had already earned respect across the international dance music community. Born Maurice Oude Booyink, he started playing keyboards at the age of seven. Although raised on classical music, Booyink gravitated toward vintage soul and funk sounds in his teens and formed a band by the time he turned sixteen. As his interest in dance music deepened, he acquired studio engineering skills and began issuing dance singles as Inmado while also producing for artists such as Sharon Doorson and R3hab. Spinnin' Records first noticed Booyink after he submitted a remix of "Pyramids" by DVBBS to a label-sponsored DJ competition; named among the top prizewinners, he secured a contract and adopted the alias Joe Stone. His first release on the imprint, 2015's "The Party," merged fresh rhythms with Montell Jordan's party-starting favorite and quickly ascended to the summit of the Beatport Charts, where it remained for two weeks.
