Biography
Louis "Kayel" Sharpe, a New York City native, first gained notice in the mid-'90s as K7 by blending rap, dancehall, and dance into a single sound. The 1994 album Swing Batta Swing delivered the mainstream single "Come Baby Come" alongside the club staple "Zunga Zeng." Before stepping out alone as K7, Sharpe had already served as one-third of the Latin freestyle act TKA. After those early achievements, both K7 and TKA stayed largely inactive for the remainder of the decade, only to return with new albums in 2001.
