Biography
Emerging from Little Rock, Arkansas, Knox Hamilton took shape in 2010 when longtime friends Boots Copeland on bass and vocals, Cobo Copeland on drums, Bradley Pierce handling lead vocals along with guitars and keyboards, and Drew Buffington on lead guitar came together. The group’s name originated from a random selection in a discarded yearbook discovered at a thrift store. Their sound merges exuberant retro dance-rock with evocative indie pop suited for road trips, drawing from Phoenix, Foster the People, Coldplay, the Killers, and Keane. Early recordings appeared under their own steam until the quartet signed with Prospect Park in 2014, which led to the release of the single “Work It Out.” That track later appeared on the 2015 debut EP How’s Your Mind, issued through major-label Universal. Knox Hamilton followed with the 2016 single “Washed Up Together,” setting the stage for their first full-length album, The Heights, which arrived in early 2017.
