La Reunion Norteña emerged from Chihuahua as a Northern Mexican ensemble devoted to classic norteño traditions, delivering corridos, rancheras, polkas, and ballads free of the pop and urban elements adopted by many contemporaries from the area. Composed of seasoned professionals, the musicians leveraged early independent releases to strengthen a live circuit built one engagement at a time through private parties, block parties, weddings, fairs, and support slots for established acts. Their first major-label project, the 2013 album Y de Nuevo...Para Ti on Fonovisia’s Azteca imprint, also marked their initial appearance on the charts and launched a prolonged stretch of Top Ten placements on the Mexican Regional Albums and Top Latin Albums lists that continued through Enamorandote in 2017.

The quintet formed in 2008 when five experienced players, three of them Chihuahua natives, pooled their talents after years of performing and recording with other groups since adolescence. Accordionist Juanito "El Torro" Fabela had previously partnered with his father in Los Vaqueros del Bravo. Lead vocalist Rogelio "El Morro" Martínez had served as second voice and bajo sexto player for Los Rieleros del Norte. Orlando Colchado, who handles bajo sexto and hails from Durango, had worked with Luis Sanchez, while drummer Edgard Muñoz and saxophonist Antonio Crispin—the sole non-Mexican member, born in Fort Worth, Texas—had both played in Adolfo Urias’s band.

Their independent debut, Y de Nuevo...La Reunión, surfaced in 2009 and sparked enthusiastic statewide interest fueled solely by live performances, prompting Azteca Music Group to sign the band in early 2011 in recognition of its electrifying stage presence and fidelity to the Chihuahua accordion-and-saxophone style. The follow-up album Te Amo appeared later that year, its title-track single ascending to the summit of Mexican radio charts and generating extensive tours throughout Mexico and the United States.

Y de Nuevo...Para Ti arrived in 2013 as the group’s first Billboard Mexican Regional Music chart entry, reaching the Top 20 and intensifying touring activity, particularly in the U.S., where headline dates and festival slots became routine. After signing with Fonovisa later in the year, the musicians began recording sessions at the start of 2014; the resulting album A Paso Firme emerged in May, preceded by the Top Five Mexican Regional Songs single “A Mujer Material,” a cover of Afid Ferrer’s composition. Despite relentless touring, the band issued more than half a dozen singles, including the charting “Llevate Todo” (2015), “En Que Falle” (2016), and “Amigos Para Que” (January 2017), the last of which preceded the Fonovisa release Enamorandote that summer. In June of the following year La Reunion Norteña unveiled the pre-release single and video for “Entonces Juguemos,” which amassed 400,000 YouTube views before the full-length Y por Siempre La Reunion appeared in August.
