Before gaining wider recognition through her appearance on the fifth season of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood in 2018, La'Britney Franklin, known professionally as LaBritney, had already spent years putting out bold pop-R&B and rap tracks. As a vocalist, lyricist, and performer who featured as a dancer in many music videos, she put out her initial solo releases in 2011 and 2012, among them the lively tracks "Look@Chu" and "Show Me Something" along with the polished "Ride." Following her role in the 2014 Ashanti video for "I Got It," Franklin headed back into recording sessions, marking her return with the 2016 track "How We Do." The subsequent year saw the arrival of multiple singles, most notably "Booty Drop." Early in 2018 came "Actin' Funny," which included a guest spot from fellow Detroit native Kash Doll, and her involvement in Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood soon boosted her visibility even more. Not long after, she put out the seven-song EP La'vintage, featuring "Actin' Funny" alongside a blend of earlier material and fresh recordings.
