Emerging first through social media platforms, pop singer and actress Mahogany Lox built an early following that led to original releases such as the 2015 track “Boom” and the 2019 single “Take Your Man.”
Born Mahogany Cheyenne Gordy in Detroit in 1994, she received her name from the title character portrayed by Diana Ross in the 1975 film Mahogany. Her parents are Berry Gordy IV and Valerie Robson, making her the granddaughter of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, Jr.; her brother is Skyler Gordy, known as SkyBlu of LMFAO. Performance interested her from childhood, prompting her to share videos and other material online. Her visibility grew substantially after she participated in the 2014 Magcon social-media tour. During that same year she issued both cover versions and original pop material, among them “Jealous” and “Paper Hearts.” The 2015 release “Boom” quickly circulated online, eventually surpassing 1.2 million views.
