Biography
Los Angeles-based alternative pop duo Mob Rich channel an apparently detached and relaxed sonic approach into explorations of profound topics and collective struggles. Maxwell Joseph, originally from Indianapolis, and Connor Pledger, from Atlanta, each relocated to L.A. on separate timelines in 2015. Their paths crossed during local open mic appearances, leading to an immediate connection that prompted the creation of the project—initially under the name Moby Rich—which quickly secured a contract with Republic Records. The 2018 release of their breakthrough single “Yoko Ono” introduced their debut EP, Our First. In 2019 they issued the follow-up EP Our First Second alongside the covers collection Songs We Didn't Write, spotlighting renditions of Weezer and Lizzo material. Another covers set, Songs We Didn't Write, Vol. 2, surfaced in 2020 and included takes on “The Killing Moon” by Echo & the Bunnymen plus “Sweet Disposition” by Temper Trap. Their first full-length album, Why No Why, arrived in 2021.
