Biography
Mobley operates alone as a multi-instrumentalist whose music he describes as post-genre pop. Though his style blends influences into something approachable, his lyrics steer clear of escapism or conventional romance, returning often to alienation, racism, egotism, and other tensions both social and internal. An experienced road performer who has logged more than two hundred show days annually, he handles guitar, keyboards, live drums, and drum machine himself while also managing visuals. After issuing a string of independent projects across the 2010s, he signed with Last Gang Records and delivered the EPs Young & Dying in the Occident Supreme in 2021 and Cry Havoc! in 2022.
North Carolina-born and raised in a military household that required repeated relocations across the U.S. and overseas, he took up violin and trumpet early before picking up guitar and beginning to write songs at sixteen. While studying film at the University of North Carolina he began performing and recording, later receiving occasional support from Tim Shelburne, Sergio Trejos, and Alfredo Rios. In 2012 he put out the self-released Young Adult Fiction EP; the following year a cover of the Beatles’ “I Wanna Be Your Man” appeared on True Blood: Music from the HBO Original Series, Vol. 4, and another Beatles track, “From Me to You,” surfaced on The Beatles Reimagined.
Continued grassroots touring as a self-contained multimedia artist, paired with further independent releases such as the 2016 Audiotree Live session and Some Other Country EP plus 2018’s Fresh Lies, Vol. I, gradually expanded his audience. After joining Last Gang in 2019 he issued his label debut Young & Dying in the Occident Supreme, an EP that confronts Western supremacy; a year later Cry Havoc! arrived, its driving tracks confronting power, alienation, and dissent.
