Club DJs and producers Dorian Lo and César de Rummel launched their Ofenbach project in 2014 after the Paris-based pair discovered house music. Their rapid progress converted that discovery into mainstream victories such as the sinuous French Top Ten track “Be Mine” in 2016, a buoyant chart-topping revision of Nick Waterhouse’s “Katchi” the following year, and the favorably received Ofenbach EP of 2019, which contained two further Top 40 entries. The duo’s first studio album, I, appeared in 2022.

Lo and de Rummel, friends since childhood, began making music together during the 2000s under the initial sway of blues-inflected rock bands including the Rolling Stones and White Stripes. A pivotal shift occurred when they encountered Robin Schulz’s productions, prompting them to blend classic rock, electronic dance music, and pop accessibility. Following scattered singles and remixes issued across 2014 and 2015, Ofenbach achieved their breakthrough in 2016 with “Be Mine,” which entered the Top Ten on multiple pop charts throughout Eurasia and received a diamond certification in France.

By late 2017 the pair had reworked material by artists as varied as Miriam Makeba, James Bay, Nick Waterhouse, and Portugal. The Man. Their version of Waterhouse’s “Katchi” secured a second domestic number-one position. After the 2018 collaboration “Party” with Lack of Afro, Ofenbach released their self-titled EP early the next year; it reached number 85 on the French album chart, propelled by the Top 40 singles “Paradise” and “Rock It.” In the ensuing years they supplied remixes for Robin Schulz and Faouzia while extending their string of Top 40 successes with “Head Shoulders Knees & Toes” and “Wasted Love.” The 2022 album I featured contributions from R3hab, Ella Henderson, Dyo, and additional guests.
