Comprised of a trio identifying as Red, Gold, and Green who favor matching attire, the Reston, Virginia group RDGLDGRN crafts equally stylish tracks that fuse slick indie rock with left-field hip-hop. Their breakthrough arrived with the 2011 single "I Love Lamp," a hook-laden power pop number titled after a Steve Carell line from Anchor Man; the accompanying YouTube video spread virally and accelerated the band's momentum through alliances with influential music-industry figures. Cold War Kids producer Kevin Augunas oversaw the remaining EP tracks, placed the act on his Fairfax Recordings label, and, in a studio coincidence, fellow Reston native Dave Grohl contributed drums. Pop producer Pharrell Williams also participated, co-writing and producing the N.E.R.D.y standout "Doing the Most" on the trio's 2012 debut EP, Red Gold Green.
