New York rapper ScarLip delivers unfiltered intensity through her raw, aggressive sound. Shaped by '90s gangsta rap, hardcore rap, and drill, she first gained traction via the 2023 viral single "This Is New York," after which "No Statements" marked her initial Billboard-charting release. Tracks such as 2024's "She's Hot" came before her Swizz Beatz-produced EP Scars & Stripes.

Born Sierra Lucas in the Bronx in 2000 and raised in Brooklyn, she channels the hardships of her early life into her tough-edged music. At age 12 she lost her mother in a hit-and-run accident, after which she cycled through foster care and detention centers. A fight with her brother at 16 left a scar on her lip that later inspired her stage name. Beginning in 2018 she shared videos online, and her first singles, "Therapy" (2019) and "Suicide Awareness" (2020), offered candid accounts of her personal struggles. With the 2022 drill track "Glizzy Gobbler" she adopted a sharper, more forceful approach that spread widely on TikTok.

She joined Swizz Beatz, Jadakiss, and Benny the Butcher for the 2023 cut "Take 'Em Out." The same year she issued "This Is New York," whose impact sparked frequent references to her chief influence, DMX. Snoop Dogg joined a remix titled "This Is Cali," while ScarLip put out the anti-snitching track "No Statements," in which she alluded to her $4 million Epic signing; the song climbed to number 23 on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. She closed the year with the Jersey club-flavored "Blick," whose NLE Choppa remix surfaced in early 2024. Further singles such as "Mike T" and "She's Hot" followed as she prepared the EP Scars & Stripes with Swizz Beatz.
