Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, the rapper known as Scotty ATL first entered the music scene during his teenage years after a close friend enlisted in the Navy and left him with a permanent loan of recording gear. Young Walter Scott Williams channeled that resourceful start by founding the Cool Club imprint and peddling homemade CDs directly to classmates. Under that banner he issued a steady stream of mixtapes that gained steady traction, among them Summer Dreams in 2011, The Jiffy Cornbread Experience in 2012, F.A.I.T.H. (Forever Atlanta in the Heart) in 2013, and numerous others, often dropping more than one project within a single calendar year. Occasional studio sessions with the then-rising B.o.B. led to a formal alliance with the rapper’s No Genre label. By 2017 Scotty ATL maintained an intense pace, staying on the road while putting out multiple new mixtapes that year, among them Who Shot Cupid and Cool Club Millionaires. The following year’s OTW arrived with the single “Ratchet” and guest appearances by Zaytoven, DJ Blak, and Nick Grant.
