Scotty Leitch, who works as a multi-instrumentalist, frequent sideman, sound engineer, and songwriter, shapes warm, ambling indie country-rock through Shelf Life, his quasi-acoustic solo project. Originating from Coatesville, Pennsylvania while based in Philadelphia, he launched the short-lived acoustic band Pirouette in 2006 and then the math rock-leaning Little Pirouettes in the early 2010s, all during regular commitments to other groups. Adopting the Shelf Life moniker, he self-released the 2013 EP Facing the Right Way at the Wrong Time along with 2014’s True Blue EP, a collection of lo-fi country-folk songs. Maintaining an active schedule in studios and on stage as a working musician, including playing drums for lo-fi indie popster Alex G, he soon completed Shelf Life’s debut full-length. Referencing influences that stretch from Ween and Pinback to Real Estate, he issued the craggy, introspective Everyone Make Happy on Lefse Records in September 2015.
