Biography
Melodic pop/rock outfit Silers Bald formed while guitarists and vocalists Warren Bazemore and Shane Williams, along with drummer Jason Jacobs, were enrolled at the University of South Carolina. Following several lineup adjustments, violinist Marcus Myers joined as the stable fourth member of the group. Their debut album, Climbing, appeared in 1997, after which the band issued the unconventional 1998 follow-up Live at Town Theater, recorded with a 20-piece orchestra. Those projects earned sufficient attention to secure another studio session the next year, yielding the 2000 album Nothing Else Beside. An opportunity to issue a nationally distributed record then arose, a milestone the Columbia, SC, ensemble had not yet achieved. Instead of introducing fresh material to that wider audience, the quartet assembled a self-titled compilation drawn from highlights of its prior releases. Following the intensive sequence of recordings that preceded the collection, Silers Bald paused its studio work until resurfacing with the 2002 Real Life EP.
